Manatee Viewing at Tampa Electric

This manatee viewing platform is at the Tampa Electric Company’s power plant in Tampa Bay, Florida. It is especially popular for manatees in the winter, when they come for the warmer “cooling water” coming out of the power plant. There is an educational area and even a small snack shop. Further up the Gulf coast there are a couple of springs where manatees also hang out in the winter. We saw them at the 3 Sisters Springs in Crystal River and swam with them in Homosassa Springs.
