Tiznit – Walled City
Tiznit is a walled city built as a garrison town in 1881 located between the Atlantic coast and the Atlas mountains. It is the most famous place for silver-smith’s in Morocco (2002). The green pool in the photo above is the “spring of Lalla Tiznit”, named after a holy womand. The Souss Massa national Park and bird sanctuary is located 41km north of Tiznit and 51km south of Agadir. If the silver jewelry is very cheap, it may be “Berber silver”, an alloy of silver, nickel and lead.
