| The markets in Shigatse were not as fun to walk around as Barkhore Street in Lhasa. The shopping areas were more separated, less organized, and I noticed less police presence. In both towns, there were sections that had many outdoor pool, or billiard, tables (in upper right corner photo) --another indication of how dry the weather there is. |

Here are some pictures of and from the fairly new hotel we stayed at. Looks okay, but it doesn't seem like it was built very well. There are already stains in the exterior and the heat didn't work in our room. |

...We tried to address the "manager" about the heat. He said he accepts blame but can do nothing except pass on our complaint to his boss, if we wrote it! Just learning capitalism, I guess...? |

I had never seen a vehicle like the one in the above-left photo. It's just a motor on wheels and serves a tractor, if you cannot afford a real one. The other 3 photos are actually extra ones from the Tashilunpo monastery. |
