Tibet Landscape Scenery – Mountain Route

Leaving Lhasa we stopped to see the Stone Buddha just outside of town. Here I am at my highest, about 5,000m in a cloud (gasp!). People often pile rocks and hang prayer flags at the high points. One of the stops was like a Truck Stop town in the US. No heat in the restaurant, of course.

During the trip from Lhasa to Shigatse, we also had a stop at Gyantse and toured a huge stupa, a building with sculptures and paintings representing different levels of consciousness.
