Fort Snelling State Park – MN
It took me way too long to discover this park that is close to the Minneapolis metro area. It is VERY close to the airport and you can see the planes taking off and landing over the “beach” area of the park. After the entrance office, the photos are mostly from three areas: the beach area, the river and boat launch area, and the Visitor’s Center.
The beach area is a good size and there are a couple of large changing / restrooms on top of the hill. There is a nice picnic area near the river and the huge arches from the highway bridge always seem to be around. Directly under one of them is where the boat launch area is. At the far end from the entrance is the Visitor’s Center. I saw some bikes for rent there and it serves as a “warming station” in the winter.
