Jekyll Island is a unique state park off the Georgia coast in the southeast, USA. It is run by a self-supporting state agency called the Jekyll Island Authority charged with balancing the needs of nature and humans. The photos of this page are from the area surrounding the Jekyll Island Club Resort. The fourth picture below, of the small brick building, is like a gift shop and welcome center, right near the parking lot, so it is a good place to stop and get a map.
I liked walking around the grounds. The sidewalks have plenty of room for bikes and people and it was a very relaxed environment. There are some more modestly priced hotels on the east side of the island near Great Dunes Beach Park, a big beautiful sandy beach.
