The Boat-building Hobby Project (2022)
A.K.A. “The Not My Boat Project”. I had a job helping someone build a boat.
I helped someone with the carpentry to build their own hobby boat made of wood. Did you know you can buy plans on how to build your own boat and make it in your garage, basement, shed, etc? The plans we used came from the website https://www.glen-l.com/ and this particular boat is called the Malahini. There were a few parts that were cryptic and hard to understand but for the most part it was pretty straightforward.

I can’t tell you how much it costs because, like the title says, it’s not my boat. I can tell you a gross estimate of the man-hours needed: Approximately 2 days a week for 2 people over 2 years to finish everything. The owner I worked with did a bunch of work by himself, but he also added a lot of details you don’t need to get a working boat.
