The first photo on the left is of the shores of Cape Anne to give a view of the coastline. It is not in Rockport. When you see the lighthouse in the center photo, then you will know you are in downtown Rockport. Sorry about the weather, I'm sure if you go to Rockport on vacation / holiday in the summer, the main streets will be crowded with people.

Rockport, Massachusetts is a town made for taking a vacation / holiday. It is very much prepared for tourists, like Agadir, Interlaken, Monterey, Newport, Rhode Island, Sedona, Arizona, etc. Here you can get gourmet coffee and hand-made crafts with your whale watches and home-made fudge.

In the picture above, you can read the story of Bear Skin Neck. If you walk down the road in the right-hand photo, you will come to the point in the center photo. You'd get a great view of the harbor and ocean if the weather was nice...

"Incidental Beauty" in Rockport Massachusetts (MA)

Rockport deserves its name because of all the rocks there. Mostly high-quality granite desired the world over at one time. They pumped out the water to mine the stuff down hundreds of feet until it became too much and was abandoned. Now they make very impressive swimming holes to say the least. The stonework shown below was made with "leftovers" from the granite quarries. It's about a half hour northeast of Boston(?).
