Jungfraujoch Cog Train
It is definitely an all-day trip to go to the top of Jungfraujoch, or “the top of Europe”, Europe’s highest train station. It is also very expensive, somewhere near 140 USD round trip (2005). A very unique trip, though, and worth going at least once. You can see why it is called a “cog train” in a photo below: real gear-type traction.
These photos were taken in 2005.
The train stops at a bunch of different ski-vacation sites on its way to the top of Jungfraujoch Mountain. I don’t know why there are stadium seats at a train station or what’s up with those Teepees, but they were rocking! Of course, if you are in Interlaken, you can get to the Jungfraujoch Cog Train by taking another train to a station where they both stop. The last part of the train ride is through a long tunnel dug into the peak of the mountain.
