It was a little uncomfortable seeing the Buddha Power signs painted on things all around the town, until someone pointed out that it was not a swastika. The Nazis took this symbol of love and inverted it as their symbol of power. The Buddha love sign is ancient and the vast majority of these people don't know what a Nazi is.

Tashilunpo monastery was founded in 1477 by Gendun Drup, the first Dalai Lama. It was expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries. Whereas Potala Palace is the home of the Dalai Lama, he is/was the head of the Tibetan government. The "Panchen Lama" (sounds like "Benji") is the spiritual head of Tibetan Buddhism, and his place is Tashilunpo.
