Windsor Vermont's tag line is "Birthplace of Vermont" because the the state's first constitution was written here in 1777 in a local tavern (of course), which is now called "Constitution House". Windsor is a little more than a half an hour south of Hanover, NH and maybe 20 mins from downtown Claremont, NH, right on the Connecticut River.

There is a good sized Main Street in Windsor with gas stations, restaurants and stores. It is not as tourist-orientated as Woodstock, Quechee, or Ludlow. One indication of this might be that, apparently, the revamped local diner ran the McDonald's out of business (last two pics).

Having said Windsor isn't geared towards tourism, it should also be mentioned that there are a few notable attrations in the area. A short search found Ascutney Mountain Park and Ski Slopes, the American Precision Museum, with one of the largest collections of historically significant machine tools around, the Cornish Museum right on Main Street, the Connecticut River boardering the town, and the fall foliage in autumn.
