You might not expect to find as good of a nature walk as you can get at the Norman Bird Sanctuary if set out on vacation to a tourist city like Newport, RI. But there it is. Over 7 miles of trails. Not only that, but just down the road is the Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge.

The majority of the trails are in wooded and swampy areas. There is a "high road" trail that will get you up on a small ridge so that you can see the ocean. There is a large diversity of terrain and scenery between the Norman Bird Sanctuary and the Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge. They are a real asset to the Newport, Rhode Island area.
