So most all of the "Grand Canyon" park signs lead to this area of the south rim. This is where the El Tovar Hotel is and a lot of National Park Services. The Grand Canyon is huge, but we saw these sites, as well as the Painted Desert section in one (kind of long) day. PSA: There are a lot of people every year who get injured, lost, or very uncomfortable because they think they can walk back up a trail "in an hour or so". You can't, and it gets very cold very fast. Consult the parks services.

The Sedona area has a whole lot of different parks to go hiking in that aren't as big of project as hiking down a canyon If you are looking for fun things to do in Phoenix area, some of the most breathtaking views are just a few hours away and can be found in Sedona and the Grand Canyon area. This is a great place for a family to go on vacation if you have any interests in nature or natural wonders at all.
