Of the tourist sites I visited, Killarney is probably what you think of when you think of going to Ireland (if you haven't been there lately). It is a town that is still "low", meaning the architecture is not getting as built up as much as in Dublin or Galway. I guess technically the parks aren't "streets", but they are still very close to downtown Killarney.

I'm pretty sure those yellow and green flags were for the Gaelic footbal tournament. It sounds to an American like you're almost cursing them, but if you want to cheer them on you say, "Up Kerry". So there is plenty of shopping for Irish crafts (as well as souvenirs), quite a few pubs to visit, and a youth hostel.
