| The Ancient Mounds at Newgrange were what got me to go on this tour in the first place. This mound is a man-made stone cavern that was "discovered" not too long ago. It was created before the pyramids of Egypt, over 4000 years ago. | ||

| Whoever built Newgrange had at least some knowledge of astronomy. For a couple of hours at sunrise during the winter solstice, the sun shines through the doorway, hallway, and lights up the back room. There is a lottery you can enter each year to be there for it. Unlike Monasterboice, Mellifont Abbey and Tara Hill, there is a cafeteria at this site. | ||
