We stayed in the Luna Azul condo while in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico. The first row of photos shows the inside of the top (4th) floor and the view from the porch. Luna Azul is about half-way up Half Moon Bay. It was just over 1 mile (1.6 km) to walk to the center of downtown Akumal.

It is all a matter of taste, isn't it? If you are looking to party with a lot of peole, you should probably stay in an all-inclusive resort along the coast or stay in Cancun or Playa del Carmen. The three of us middle-agers REALLY appreciated the peace and quiet of staying at this condo. It also is right on the beach on the ocean. In some resorts, you may end up being placed back from the water, even if the property is "on the ocean". There were many families with children in these condos.

We went all the places in my photo tour without renting a car, but we enjoy walking. About 40 minute walk to get to the road where tour and "Collectivo" buses / vans would pick you up. Town was about 20 min relaxed walk, but there were a few small grocery / convenience stores along the way, so we didn't need to go far to get supplies. The first photo in the row below is of a restaurant on the road to town.

At the far end of Half Moon Bay, you will find the Ya Kul Lagoon.
