Sian Kaan Nature Bioshpere

The Sian Kaan Nature Preserve / Biosphere has its office in Downtown Tulum. You could get there by bus or Collectivo (mini-bus) from Akumal, all the way up to Playa del Carmen. There are a number of different tours you can go on within the nature preserve. The pictures of the guided walk through the bioshpere are on this page. You will get to swim in a cenote at the end, but it is not underground, like at Coba or Chichen Itza.

You can also take a long lagoon tour around the huge lagoon, stopping outside an island around dusk to see some Tropical Birds. The building in these photos is the headquarters, where there is a restaurant and a great view from the roof.
