| Interlaken literally means "between the lakes". They are the Thun and Brienz lakes. It is also close to the mountains of Jungfrau, Mönch and Eiger. It's true what I read about Interlaken before I left for vacation: "Everyone's a tourist in Interlaken". The town is very international and very much set up to accomodate tourists. Lots of restaurants, Hotels, and gift shops, like Agadir, Monterey, Newport, Rhode Island, Rockport, Massachusetts, Sedona, Arizona, etc. | ||

| While there are a lot of hotels in this town, there are very few tall ones. It still has a village atmosphere and you can walk just about anywhere in town. There is a big open square near the center of town (panoramic above) that gives you a great view of the mountains. In Interlaken I saw the most Asian writing (characters) of any city within Switzerland. | ||
